A CPR\/AED responder needs to be available whenever a medical emergency occurs in the school and code blue alert is called. This includes before school programs like breakfast, and after school activities. Teachers can\u2019t respond to a code blue if it means leaving the students in their classroom unattended. For this reason, administrative staff, school aids, custodians and cafeteria staff are often excellent candidates to be trained as CPR\/AED responders in a school.
